One week down...

Well we survived the first week!
We left the hospital late Tuesday night. It was a long day of waiting for test results and nurses. They wanted to make sure his jaundice levels did not go up, but stayed relatively normal. He was a higher risk for jaundice because of his delivering being assisted with the vacuum. Luckily they stayed normal and he did not need any special treatment. Then we got to wait for his hearing test...what they told us would just take a few minutes ended up taking almost an hour to complete. Then there was my blood pressure issues...my blood pressure was on the high side. And the doctor was concerned. But I was determined to get out of the hospital. ASAP! They finally released us. We got home some time after ten p.m. Ready for our first night home.
Bradley does pretty well at night. He just wakes up every 3-4 hours to eat, or be changed and then goes right back to sleep. Although, we could not figure out why he would sleep with us, but the minute he was put in his bed he would wake up. Thankfully Scott's mom gave us the swaddle idea...and now he sleeps all by himself in his bed! Although I love napping with him, it is nice to be able to not have him in bed...at night. I think he sleeps sounder when he is alone, and does not feel me moving around at night.
He is so alert during the day. He just will lay on the couch, and stare at his surroundings. He rarely starts to fuss, which is nice. He has even started to make friends with our dog Yoda. Yoda comes around Bradley and will just sniff him. Bradley now will turn his head towards the sniffing, and reach his arms up...(ok I get that he is not actually trying to pet the dog...but still it is really cute!)and touches yoda before quickly retracting his arms back close to his body.
In his first week of life...Bradley has been to taco bell (yes we stayed in the car), Target, Walmart, Scripps Pollster Breast Care Center, Church and of course the doctors. He loves the sound of the truck, it is one way we have found comforts a fussy Bradley.
Scott has returned to base. :( He will be down on the weekends thankfully. It will definitely be hard on both of us, but we will make the best of it. It is absolutely wonderful to have someone as supportive and caring as Scott is. I am very lucky.
Bradley will be blessed June 21st. By his Grandpa...Scott's dad. We can't wait for him to meet more of his family!!!!
