Marine & Puppy

A few new things happening in our little family.

I have been holding onto some information for a little bit now. We weren't sure if it would happen. We weren't sure if it was going to all work out. A lot of pieces had to fall into place. Thankfully this week it was finalized.
Since I have already shared the info with my best friend I can share it with blog land.
Scott has decided to join the "active" reservist. He was able to get in contact with the recruiter and one thing led to another and now he is attached to a unit and has his first drill weekend assigned.
His first drill weekend is in two weeks. It also just so happens to be the weekend of the ball.
Yep. I have two weeks to find a dress that is not going to kill our budget.
Thankfully my mama is coming for a visit and will be here the night of the ball. We had also already planned to have a girls day to include a pedicure & manicure. Talk about good timing.

We also added a new addition to our family. Scott surprised Bradley and I one Saturday morning with the news that we were going to look for a puppy but not promising everything. We fully believe every dog deserves a loving home and that all dogs are wonderful. However we do not believe that all dogs are meant for all people. We had some specifics we were looking for when we were searching for our puppy. We started at a couple adoption events, and although there were many adorable and wonderful dogs. We knew that none of them were ours.

We were about to call it quits, Bradley had a Soccer game and we were running out of time. Husband made a left turn and there it was. The SPCA of Texas. We pulled in and I took a deep breath. It was heartbreaking to see so many wonderful animals waiting for their families.

We named her Roxy. She is now 11 weeks. She is a Catahoula/Golden Retriever mix. She has been with us for just over a week now and is house trained, crate trained, can sit on command, is learning lay down and is possibly the sweetest little thing you will ever meet.

I am super lucky and work for wonderful people who are dog lovers. They let me bring Roxy to work. Which has been fun. She sort of gets along with their two dogs. She is very much a puppy and they only tolerate so much.

This month will be crazy. Scott's Birthday is Friday! (Still no clue what to buy the man!) Halloween and then the Ball.

I haven't even put up a single decoration! I'm such a slacker. I have hopes of getting some stuff put up this weekend and have been looking for some fun things for B to craft to make it even more fun around here. Thankfully my best friend has a fantastic blog. Tied Ribbon. She has posted some great decorating & craft ideas to make this holiday even better. Take a minute and go say hi!
