Keys

Husband was standing by the kitchen and held up his keys against the wall above the counter and said we need to hang our keys somewhere.
So the "Crafter" in me immediately started to think and search for all of the wonderful ones I had seen that have been popping up. Like the ones from here and here.
we have two sets of keys. Mine and his.
Off to Michael's I went. (Michael's is our local craft store)
I grabbed these supplies(although being the super crafter I am, had many of these on hand. Try not to be intimidated)

Unfinished Wood. *Michael's has a huge array of sizes and shapes.
Sand Paper *Medium or less works best.
Acrylic Paint.
Acrylic Sealer
Scrabook Paper. *Make sure it cordinates with the paint, as well as the room it will be placed in.
Modge Podge.
Razor Knife. *They have a different name, but I don't know it and this is what I call them.
Picture Hangers.
Small Hooks.*I went for the silver ones...because I don't do gold.

I noticed on a lot of the pieces of wood there were some rough edges, so I just sanded some of the edges a little smoother. Although not a super necessary step, it took up time and I was trying not to die of boredom as I watched husband and his friend try to put together the new grill. (NOT Girl as I posted on FB, and thanks for that comment Amber I immediately went and took a prego test, FYI negative)

Then I painted. I did a couple coats, just until it had the color I liked. Especially since it was a lighter beige, I wanted to make sure it was thick enough.

I cute the scrabook paper to fit the center portion of the wood, using my razor knife.  I modge Podge it onto the wood. I then printed up the word Keys and added that to the paper as well. (I forgot to take one before I added the hooks.)
I sprayed it a few times with the acrylic sealer. (Like 3) Let it dry inbetween each spray.

Fliped it over added the picture hangers. Which was a pain in the toosh. The nails for this were super tiny. And my hammer and fingers are giants. But I got them in. (Never mind it took me...45353 tries)
The little hooks were much easer to screw in. I just figured out where I wanted them marked it with a little dot and did it. One of the blogs drilled little holes in the wood first. But the tools were in the truck and I didn't feel like going all the way to the truck and husband was already in bed. So I manned up and did it.
It is not perfect but for the first one, I think its pretty grand. I promise it is not crooked. It just looks that way. I swear its straight!
