You have been warned.
Ashley(18), Me & Monkey,Amanda(22)
I woke up Monday morning ans was very excited. For obvious reasons. I made our bed and cleaned up a bit so everything would be presentable for husband. I had to run a few errands. Got my nails done, went to the post office, got gas and before I knew it, it was time to pack up the truck and make that drive to base. I was really surprised at how fast the day had gone. I was hoping the rest of the time would go just as quickly...
I LOVE him,
My mom's home is about and hour and 20 minutes from base. This was the LONGEST drive of my life. It took so long. Monkey did really well. It was during his afternoon nap so it worked out perfectly. They were scheduled to arrive around 5. I got there about four thirty. And then the waiting game began. Sitting, standing, walking around, sitting, standing, standing, standing. You know "hurry up and wait".The luggage truck...this is a big deal.
There were some people who were getting info from their spouses about where they were. But nothing really concrete enough for me to get excited. Until the lady with the camera came. I love her. She posted herself at the corner with her zoom maxed out on her camera waiting for a glimpse of the white buses. She got them. Heading into the armory. From then it was probably another twenty minutes of waiting.I was so excited (ignore the 398398239 chins)
Then the first bus pulled in. I screamed. I made an announcemt to those within earshot that I would have no problem taking anyone down. As they slowly started to get off the buses the crowd became a sea of men in uniform. I am not in the "tall" group so it was really hard for me to see over anyone. I was getting annoyed and recruited one of husband's friends to help me look for husband.
Then annoyed, then excited again....poor lady I made an announcement.
He spotted him and once we made i contact I bolted for him. I smacked a lady in the face. (I don't regret it) And jumped on him. Oh it felt so good to be with him again. For it to be real.
After a few quick hellos I took him over to Monkey who was hiding out from the crowds with my mama. I noticed he was getting a little overwhelmed when everyone started to crowd up to the line so to help keep him calm I sent him to the back where he could still see everything but wouldn't be sourrounded. When husband went to hold him Monkey started to whine a little but but immediately stopped and just looke at him.Since then everything has been amazing.
My two favorite boys.
Monkey loves his dada.(Especially since dada gives him ice cream...) Husband was giving his friend a ride to his home since he lives off base. It was on the way and I actually like his friend, since he is not obnoxious, rude or just annoying.(not saying any of his friends are this...) Well I waited in the truck while they loaded up their gear into the back and then we were off. After dropping off his friend Husband made the phone calls to his family in Texas. Then it was just us and Monkey in the car.The rest of the night was good. So very very good. Until poor husband got a freakin' fever and obviously had a major head cold. Which I expected wold happen since he always gets sick on those dumb planes. But that didn't stop husband....not at all. I can't tell you how many times the words "I am so glad you are home", "I missed you so much" and "I love you" were uttered that night. My guess would be a bajillion or so.
It was amazing to have him back. To snuggle in our bed and talk about plans for the week. I told him I really loved being able to tell him I love you and not waiting hours or days for a response. :)
The transition from being apart to being together went surprisingly well. Things just seemed to fall back in place. There are still some adjustments. But those are inevetible.
Isn't he hot?
I love husband and am so glad he is home! Our little family is together again!
