The Shower.

My best friend's bridal shower was tonight. It was so much work but so worth it.
She has been such an amazing support in my life. She has been through so much with me and I was so honored when she asked me to be her MOH. We have been friends since we were 14. Through our ups and downs one thing has always remained. The plain and simple fact that no matter what we would do anything for one another. I am so excited for her, Robert is a very lucky man.
Planning a shower or anything for Katie is extremely stressful. She is an amazingly crafty person and so creative that it becomes exhausting to try to do something amazing for her... I tried...
Katie Love(not her real last name)
The bridesmaids & The Bride
The theme was "kitchen".
We went with gold and "pink" for the colors.
It was a lot of work and if it was for anyone else but her I would have quit weeks ago.
I have a picture of the invitation but my battery for my camera just died, so unfortunately I will post it later.
The invitation read:
The ingredients for a successful marriage
A whole lot of love
a dash of spice
and lots of answers to
"whats for dinner?"

We included a recipe card with each invitation and asked guest to include their favorite recipe. Which was placed in this book...
She loves sunflowers
It is actually a photo album. It had a picture window on the front. I just took some colored scrapbook paper and added the stickers and embellishment. Her kitchen dishes are brown and green. She has splashes of yellow involved so I figured green would be the perfect pop of color. It went on the front table when the guests walked in. It also served as a "guest book" of sorts.

There were four bouquet of "yellow" flowers. They had sunflowers in them. As well as kitchen utensils in the bouquet.
We also put the favors on the table. All those pink bows drove me crazy! They ended up looking pretty darn cute.

I love the little whisks. I stole one for myself.
It is okay since I bought them.
On the tables their was a bouquet. Gold ribbon around the vase. Flowers. And fake lemons inside the vase to give it a pop of color at the bottom. Each bouquet also had kitchen utensils sort of hidden in the bouquet. It was fun for me to watch people notice them. Not completely obvious, it was a nice hidden touch. On the tables we also had measuring cups with M&Ms in them. And a strainer.
The food was amazing. We did yummy deserts. The silverware was placed in a measuring cup. Around the table I also scattered heart shaped cookie cutters.(Unfortunately it was not in this picture) And yes another bouquet. I gave one to the bride, one to the woman who was kind enough to let us "barrow" her home, one to a wonderful lady who lives downstairs from my mom, and I kept one. The flowers truly helped brighten up the room. I loved the lemons in the vases.

The food was so good.
We played two games. How well do you know the bride(as guests were arriving) and the apron game. Katie put on the apron and walked around the room and then hid as the guests tried to remember what was all on the apron. The how well do you know the bride game was just a fun little questionnaire about Katie. It helped  break the ice and get people to talk.
The apron was extremely heavy. It clanked loudly as Katie walked. She got to keep all the utensils and gadgets on her apron.
Finally, I wanted to do something nice for the woman who allowed us into her home. I whipped up this little card. (I love my corner rounder) We gave her a gift certificate for yummy food and I gave her a bouquet of flowers.

Although it was a LOT of work. I would do it all over again for Katie Love. I am so glad I had the help of my mama, she tolerated a ton of my craziness and running around like a crazy person getting things together. She was such a huge help. Not to mention the other girls who really helped pull this together. I am so glad it is over and things can calm down for a little bit...or at least until it gets closer to the wedding.
